Senior Art Director / J. Walter Thompson New Zealand
With almost three decades at J. Walter Thompson (coincidentally, the average age at the agency), few people have a grasp of retail advertising like Rod Prosser. In a former life Rod also worked at DDB and Bates and has worked on a myriad of brands over the years including Ford, Shell, AMP, HSBC, Heart Children and McDonalds.
He even claims to have designed the first Happy Meal Box here in New Zealand (they actually came in cardboard boxes in those days). With five kids, Rod’s seen a few Happy Meals in his time too.
His work has been recognized at both local award shows and international ones such as the Cannes International Advertising Festival, but what really makes Rod’s wheels spin is creating work that works. Winning Gold for an Appliance Shed retail campaign at the 2015 Effies Awards was a genuine career highlight.
When he’s not at work, you’ll find him spinning the wheels of his road bike, which he’s even ridden on the public stage of the Tour De France.
